Aaliyah Always: Fashion Merchandise

So my next few posts will be related to fashion, and how we can use the fashion industry as a way of showing remembrance and honor of people who impacted our lives gratefully. The first one I'll be talking about is someone who is very well known within the dedicated, true Aaliyah fan community. AaliyahAlways has been around for quite some time now, and probably one of my main reliable sources when it comes to anything Aaliyah related. I can honestly say that one of my biggest inspirations came from this blog alone, as I too wanted to showcase my love and remembrance but in a different way. As you all know, our beloved Babygirl was highly into her fashion, and even spoke about owning her own fashion label. Unfortunately, she didn't have the chance for that to become a reality until now, and it's all thanks to all these dedicated Aaliyah fans, who continue to grow and keep her memory alive.

Now that's not all! What I admire most about AaliyahAlways is how they are giving back to charity through this clothing branch. What makes it even better is that you can too! How you ask? Well...any commission made of these purchased merchandises are donated directly to the Aaliyah Memorial Fund which you can find on the official Aaliyah website. The memorial fund has helped a lot of good causes and in detail this is what it says for those who are unaware...

"In her precious 22 years, Aaliyah achieved more than many do in several lifetimes...An illuminating factor was her conviction to touch and help others. The Aaliyah Memorial Fund was created as a vehicle whereby her fans, friends, and family can contribute to and support causes that Aaliyah found important. The Aaliyah Memorial Fund was started in 2001. For Aaliyah and her comrades that left us August 25th, 2001, there is much we can do as a benevolent community to keep Aaliyah's dream & legacy alive. With your contribution, research and hope for cures will go with your help in Aaliyah's name. The beneficiaries have included since 2001 the Alzheimer's Association of Los Angeles, the Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation, the National Alzheimer's Association, the Step Up Women's Network, the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the Detroit School of the Arts, the Harlem Breast Cancer Center, the Revlon Breast Cancer Walk NYC, the Sacred Heart Parish, and the Jenna Druck Foundation. If donating by check or money order, please make payable to “Aaliyah Memorial Fund” and then please mail to:

Aaliyah Memorial Fund

331 West 57th Street, #281

New York, NY 10019

(Even donating just $1 or $5 is very helpful and very meaningful. Whatever can be offered is greatly appreciated.)With Aaliyah, Keeth, Christopher, Eric, Doug, Gina, Scott, Anthony and Luis In Our Hearts!"

Such a noble deed to do! Anyone who would wish to purchase these merchandises, please visit http://aaliyahalways.themerchgallery.com/ for more information. Below are some of the clothing range which I happen to absolutely love! Particularly the red, white and black colour combinations! Nice choice! ;)

The Aaliyah Archives: News

My personal AANBN album cover as my poster in my room.

Hey guys! Hope everyone is all well. Now you are all probably wondering what that last tweet was about? But for those who are unaware listen up! I have a special project to announce to all the fans out there, so if you would like to take part, read on for further details. Now, since it's coming close to the 20th Anniversary of Aaliyah's Age Ain't Nothing But A Number album (to be precise May 24th) as a special tribute one of our fellow Aaliyah bloggers and fans are planning to visit New York, Ferncliff (the very place where Aaliyah's gravesite resides) around June time to pay homage to our beloved Babygirl, and also on our behalf for those who are unable to visit. She goes by the name of Sabrina who is the owner of maximum-aaliyah.skyrock.com and maximum-aaliyah.tumblr.com. You can also catch her here via Twitter

Part of this project is where you guys come in. Sabrina herself will be making a printed book collecting pictures of all fans repping the 'AANBN' album. Anyone who would like to take part, please send all pictures to aaliyah71@hotmail.fr. Please note that ALL submissions MUST be received by MAY 5th. If you wish to submit your own personal tribute e.g.– drawings/sketches/poems/writings etc... please make sure they are an appropriate size since Sabrina will personally be taking these with her in her suitcase, so lets help keep her luggage load at a good weight! Lol! As you can see, I have posted my own personal AANBN album cover for this particular post, so I shall no doubt have to take this down and insert it back into my CD case and strike my very best pose. :o) You can also read Sabrina's personal message about this where she said...

"Aaliyah fans & lovers I have an idea to allow you to participate to my trip to New York at the end of June! I wanted you to be able to bring a tribute to Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number for its 20th anniversary! This was the first album of our angel and I think it’s important to show some love and to celebrate it! I prepare something personal but in addition to that I’d like to print a book with pictures of fans reppin the album! I think it would be a fabulous way to show your love and dedication to Aaliyah! And I’m sure that Diane and Rashad would love it ;)
If you want to be a part of the project, you can send me your picture to: aaliyah71@hotmail.fr All pictures must be received on May 5th! So that I can work on the book and print it (it’s long).I’ll post in most of the groups and pages about Aaliyah, if you want to help this project, please spread the word, I hope I’ll have at least 20 pics to make a beautiful book, I already know how the cover front and back will be :)I’ll as usual take pictures of the book at Ferncliff so that you can live the moment with me.Thank you"

Awww...how sweet of her! I genuinely think this is such a great idea, so please spread the word everyone, it would mean a lot! One Love <3

Eric Johnson Shares Thumbnails of Aaliyah

All credit to @theonlymikeq who shared these rare gems on Instagram, who was fortunate enough to be able to go inside Eric Johnson's studio and look at the thumbnails which are displayed of our beloved Babygirl shown above. Aaliyah herself, has marked every single thumbnail too, with O for a like and X for a dislike. It's crazy to think that someone so beautiful as Aaliyah would dislike any of her pictures, but it just goes to show that we are all human no matter how famous or rich we become. Certain characteristics will always stay with us. A quote from Eric Johnson himself who made quite an interesting point that I picked up upon myself...

Eric Johnson: "It was like getting to see her taste and how she seen herself and wanted the world to see her. The same way we look through our own photos and say yes or no".

Aaliyah: ELLE Magazine, March 2014

Here's a fresh recent article where our Babygirl is still, to this very day marking her place in the fashion industry with her effortless style and charisma. It's such a shame she is no longer with us, since Aaliyah had plans of setting up her own fashion line, which I know would of been fire! *sigh* With that being said, flat abs are a must, if you wanna rock a midriff top. On a personal note, I've been putting in a lot of work when it comes to the work outs, and Aaliyah's abs are definitely a motivating force within my life! What more encouragement could you possibly need? :o)
